Lake Temagami and Area

Lake Temagami and the village of Temagami comprise the vacation region, hosting some of the province’s best cottage retreats. With a vast amount of lakes in the area, it’s no wonder the region has earned its reputation as a canoeing capital. From gentle lakes to more challenging whitewater, any enthusiast will find a place to enjoy themselves. Other aquatic activities include swimming, boating, water skiing, sailing, fishing and more.

For those who’d rather be on land than water, hiking trails, mountain biking, bird watching and more are also readily available. Trails snake through old growth forest; following them may reveal the woods’ secrets, like the rare purple fringed or rattlesnake orchid. Climb Caribou Mountain or High Rock Island for outstanding views; if you’re up to the challenge, the Ishpatina Ridge, at 2,275 feet, is also up for the climb.

Whether you’re getting close to the clouds or exploring the depths of the lakes, you’ll find your next nature adventure waiting for you in Temagami.
